Peace corps partnership program
Each year Camp GLOW is funded with support from the Peace Corps Partnership Program.
When the grant goes online (usually the October/November before camp), you can donate online through the Peace Corps website where one hundred percent of your tax-deductible contribution will go directly toward the Peace Corps Partnership Program project.
The Partnership Program does not directly fund projects, but serves as a link to groups, foundations, service organizations, and individuals wanting to contribute to the valuable work Volunteers do with their host communities. In order to receive funding through the Partnership Program, a community must make a 25 percent contribution to the total project cost and outline success indicators for the individual projects. This helps ensure community ownership, a greater chance of long-term sustainability, and ultimately, success. A majority of the community contribution is being provided by Plan Nicaragua in the form of human resources, while local businesses and organizations have pledged support with supplies and coverage of some transportation costs.
Additionally, you can send a check to the Peace Corps Office of Gifts and Grants Management with this form. You may also call the office at 202-692-2170 or toll free at 855.855.1961, ext. 2170 to contribute by phone. Additionally, please see the FAQ webpage for more helpful information and/or do not hesitate to contact us questions.

Supporting GLOW from your classroom
Another way you can support Camp GLOW efforts in the future is by hosting a Penny Wars competition in your classroom, at your church, or in your office building. In 2014 three schools in three different states raised over $1,200 for GLOW by organizing a Penny Wars competition. Those coins sent 12 girls to Camp GLOW... who knew small change such make such a big difference?!

To do your own Penny Wars competition:
- Form competitive teams such as different grades, different classrooms etc to challenge each other. You can have up to as many teams competing as you want.
- Set up one jar for each team in a central location such as the office.
- Pennies put in each jar count as one point for each penny. However, nickels, dimes, quarters, and dollar bills put in the opposing team's jar count as negative points. For instance, nickels are negative 5 points, dimes are negative 10, quarters are negative 25 and dollar bills are negative 100 points.
- This competition ideally runs for 3 - 5 days. Running tallies can be kept track of in a public setting to encourage competition.
- Take pictures of your competition to share with us and let us know how you're doing!
- If you want, offer a prize for the winning team such as candy or a pizza party.
- After the money has been collected and rolled, you'll be able to submit contributions online through the Peace Corps Partnership Program once the project is live (October/November before camp).
